B-17
B-25/ PV-1
P-38
I came upon a B-17 wreckage in 2006 about 10 miles in the jungle from the southern coast of New Britain. A timber company was pushing a road up through the dense jungle when the ran across a wing of an airplane.
I heard about it and went to see it. It was a big wing but there were no other parts of the plane around. So the next day, I and two Ora guys searched down from the wing and found a section of the plane. Due to the size of the wing, it had to be a bomber.
It was. It was a B-17E.
Here are some pictures of the wreckage we found. The B-17 was called the Texas #6. It was jumped by 12 zeros and blew up in the air so the parts of the wreckage were thrown everywhere.
